In a rather unpredictable acquisition, Apple has just paid over $200 Million USD for the social search engine and analytical tool, Topsy.
Topsy is a brilliantly powerful platform that is highly recommended in the Mighty Little Startups course.
The big question is how Apple plans to use this powerful social search engine, with rumours that Apple plans to use the backend algorithms to assist in recommending apps to end users. This sort of in-depth, and highly personable level of recommendations could assist Apple in creating a more 2 way level of communication with their customers.
